Corporate Training Intern

June - August 2019 • Moon Township, PA

What I liked

I loved that I had the opportunity to learn new things. As a Human Resource Management major, I didn't spend much time in training until this internship. I appreciated that my co-workers and supervisor were so supportive of my growth at the company. I also had to opportunity to work remotely with my team. It was a great eye opener to learn different ways of communication other than face-to-face. I also had the chance to work with my fellow interns on a project based on corporate social responsibility. I had an amazing opportunity to partner with other departments. I partnered with Employee Engagement to suggest learning paths on diversity and inclusion. Last but not least, ServiceLink provided me with a mentor in the Human Resources Office. She provided me with the opportunity to observe her team and speak with her about anything I needed. I was able to see the interdependencies between HR and Training. Overall, the company culture was so supportive and helped me grow as a student.

Accounting Intern

What I liked

I was able to rotate through the different parts of the accounting department. Experience with Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Ledger helped me understand the full-cycle of the company. It was also nice learning about all of the lines of business that they offer and getting the details from the accounting perspective.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have been able to spend a little more time with my mentor because he had great experience and knowledge and I wish I would have been able to learn more from him.

Advice

Ask for assignments and don't be afraid to ask questions. Everyone is super nice and helpful. They notice when you take initiative and want you to succeed.
