Seller Rocket

Marketing

May 2021 • Dublin, OH

What I liked

I gained valuable experience and got to apply concepts I learned in the classroom to a real world application. I worked on projects that contributed to the growth of the company and helped expand the business development process. My biggest takeaways were learning hands on SEO, Google Ads, Facebook Ads, conversion rate optimization, building website landing pages, email lists & newsletters, and working alongside high-level individuals. I am grateful for my time at Seller Rocket, and the knowledge I gained will propel me wherever I go next in my career!

What I wish was different

It took me a few weeks to get adjusted to the high intensity and fast moving environment here. Also, there was a learning curve I had to overcome within my first few weeks about the business model and projects I was working on. Since the company is a start-up, everyone working here is very busy and moving very fast. I had to ask many questions and find answers on my own most times. I wish the beginning ramp up process was more straightforward.

Advice

I would say you need to have discipline, a strong work ethic, and an eagerness to learn if you want to work here. Tasks and projects change frequently, sometimes daily. You need to be adaptable and manage many tasks at once.

Marketing Intern

What I liked

Seller Rocket is in the growth stage of their business and it's a high intensity, high reward environment. The team is small but growing, pushes you to grow yourself, your skills, and the team. I've never felt so much support in a role, and felt personally driven to learn as much as I can. Everyone on the team is always ready to offer you advice and help you develop your skills, and as an added bonus, the location is right in the heart of downtown Dublin. What I've learned: As a marketing intern in the first month of my internship, I sat in on sales calls and really got a grasp on the ecommerce ecosystem, worked on creating valuable resources to be used in the ecosystem, and created and implemented an outreach strategy. After the first month, I was offered more responsibility and now have experience writing blog content, editing our website, outreaching, meeting, and executing partnerships with companies who have similar audience, running sales calls, creating video advertisements, learning Google/Facebook ads, designing graphics/informational materials, and was recently offered to run a podcast appearance on behalf of the company. If you work hard, your opportunities will be endless here

What I wish was different

This is a tough question. When you come in, it's initially more overwhelming than it seems. Everyone is working hard and is busy, and you'll receive a lot of information at once that might not make sense. It's just important to know that that's the environment going in and making sure you ask questions for clarification on anything you don't understand. Again, everyone is there to help you, there are just a lot of little details and acronyms in the ecosystem and sometimes people forget that you may not be familiar with what they're talking about. Additionally, because we're a startup, there are some instances where tasks take a long time because nobody has yet to optimize them. For example, when I started and was searching for podcasts for us to go on, I would have to manually create an excel document and find every podcast in the field, find their contacts, affiliate contacts, and search the internet for all of their emails. Now we've found the best ways to search for new leads and outreach takes far less time each week.

Advice

Go in ready to learn and don't be intimated. You'll pick up the information as time goes on and you have to remember that you're entering a niche field that everyone there has been in for years. I found podcasts to be the most helpful for me coming in in terms of resources for learning
