What I liked

I liked meeting new dogs everyday and letting the dog lead the walk to discover new areas I probably would not have went. I enjoyed being active in a fun and different way and learning all the new animals unique names.

What I wish was different

Absolutely nothing, I truly enjoyed my summer with many different dog breeds.

Advice

Let them have fun but also remain the one in control and the animals will respect you.

Various Volunteer Experiences

May 2019 • Baltimore, MD

What I liked

I loved being able to connect with the people who are the core of Baltimore. I was born and raised and Baltimore and often times in the media we see negative things about events or happenings in Baltimore. I spent time shedding light and enjoying the positivity in Baltimore by feeding the homeless, working at different summer camps around the city, a great experience in order to connect with two very different groups of people in this city.

What I wish was different

Honestly, I wish I had more time to connect with the people and I also wish there were more financial resources in order to help the people. But time is definitely something that I wish I had more of because there were several opportunities that I was not able to participate in due to time restrictions.

Advice

PEOPLE NEED TO CONNECT WITH THE PEOPLE IN ORDER TO SEE WHAT THEY NEED NOT JUST PASS JUDGEMENT SOMETIMES PEOPLE NEED CONVERSATIONS!!

Pet Sitter

March 2012 • Montrose, CO

What I liked

I like that I can set my own schedule, run my own business with family, and lastly; be there for pets in their own environment. They do best in their own home, their schedule.

What I wish was different

That clients stop deciding how worth we are in this business. We set a certain rate for a reason: we are good at what we do. We ease stress, worry for homeowners, and help take care of their beloved pets.

Advice

It’s hard work, rewarding, sometimes downright nasty. But, you get lots of love, cuddles, and helping sweet pets during a stressful time while their owner is away. I say- have fun, enjoy the job, and good luck!!
