Beach Retreat Leader and Mentor
June 2019 • Houston, TX
What I liked
I loved that I got to mentor school-aged kids in their personal relationship with God. Each one of them had a different outlook and relationship status with God so it was interesting talking to each of the kids I was assigned. Since I participated in the middle school and high school beach retreat it was interesting to see how age plays a major role in the maturity of their relationship with not only God but with their house mates and friends.
What I wish was different
Even though a relationship with God does take time and effort, i wish that some of the kids allowed themselves to be vulnerable and be receptive of the environment they were in. I know this isn't something you can push, but it would be great to see the progress.
Advice
Allow yourself to be patient with everything. the kids, time, and responsibility of being in charge. you are not going to know everything. It is okay to ask questions.

I don't think I would change a whole lot. It was a very growing experience and I am much better for it.
