Assembly Engineer

May - August 2021 • Archbold, OH

What I liked

I loved the large amount career opportunities and summer College program. This company prepared me for industrial aspects of woodworking and assembly engineering. I really enjoyed working on the assembly line, including building and testing products for better functionality. Sauder Woodworking trains people with little to no work experience to be prepared for the industrial environment.

What I wish was different

I wish there was more safety precautions and preparation material for running machines, instead of learning on the spot. Some machines have fast cutting saws, so it can be a bit nerve-racking training on the spot without knowing anything about the machine beforehand. This would help create a safer environment for training employees.

Advice

Definitely try new things, even if you are unsure about it. This company shaped me into the person I am today, as I learned hands-on engineering skills and fell more in love with the degree I am pursuing. Additionally, do not be super nervous about the job interview. Be honest and knowledgeable about the job you applied for and why.
