Samtec

Mechanical Engineering Intern

January - September 2019 • New Albany, IN

What I liked

Exposure to tool design practices and the high level of responsibility entrusted to me

What I wish was different

More support during the latter half.

Advice

Samtec is highly competitive for people seeking full time employment. It is good for just getting experience but don't plan on getting a job out of it after school.

Mechanical Engineering Intern

May 2019 • Columbia, SC

What I liked

I was trusted with high level projects that were truly meaningful to the well-being of the company.

What I wish was different

As a mechanical engineer, in an office of electrical engineers, the vast majority of the people I work with I have to interact with over the phone or email, so it is slightly harder to build good relationships with coworkers.

Advice

At a career fair, talk to anyone and everybody. You never know who you will end up hitting it off with and get an offer from.

Account Development Specialist

May 2019 • New Albany, IN

What I liked

I loved learning how to work with data, help develop the business, reach out to customers, etc. I also love the environment where I have the freedom to get my work done how I like, but be held accountable at the same time. It helps when you are surrounded by a great supporting group as well.

Advice

Keep an open mind about the work you are doing because you are always learning something that will help you down the road.
