What I liked

Working with older adults has been such a fun experience. I always thought I wanted to work with athletes and younger people, but in all my work experience thus far, the elderly population has by far been my favorite demographic to work with.

What I wish was different

I wish I'd had a bit more job flexibility.

Advice

Opening your eyes to working in settings you wouldn't have expected seeing yourself in is a great way to determine what you want in a job. You may surprise yourself.

What I liked

I enjoy my time working at Saint John's on the lake because I am assisting staff, co-workers, and residents with various things. It is a fast-pacing environment and I get to practice the communication skills I've learned throughout my first year at Alverno. I feel more confident when addressing conflict and finding a solution to it.

What I wish was different

I don't wish anything different from the job. Preferably, I'd like if the hours I worked were during the mornings, hopefully in the future that might be a possibility with their expansion coming up early next year.

Advice

You need communication to get things done, worked, solved. It's okay to be afraid of speaking up but reflect very well how will speaking out about this conflict turn out. Who does it affect? Do you have any suggestions for how to solve it? etc.
