What I liked
The staff was small and overworked, but that also developed a strong sense of community even in the face of an incredibly challenging workload.
What I wish was different
I wish our store manager had been more respectful to the main staff; she added unnecessary stress to every situation she was involved in. I also wish the job training had been more extensive and existent; I had to teach myself most of the duties of a Courtesy Clerk or rely on other staff members to explain.
Advice
I think that this was overall a good experience due to the character building and the experience that it gave me. Sometimes the best choice isn't always the one with the cushiest position and the best check; sometimes it's the one that teaches you how to remain calm under incredible stress and adapt under pressure.

Dealing with the customers, and working with my coworkers

The management was better at listening to their employees, and that they took the proper steps to train their employees instead of putting people in places they are not trained to work in.
Advice
When managers ask you to do something outside your contract refuse, if they threaten firing you still stand your ground and do not cave. There will be a union or some other action you can take if they do fire you for refusing to do something outside of your contract.

I liked working with my degree, I felt like I learned a lot. During the 8 week internship, I got to experience how it would be outside of school, but allowed me to take baby steps.

If you go into this job thinking it is easy you will be in for a shock. You need to be fast on your feet and great with people.

Transferring from Tucson to Flagstaff took 6 weeks when it really shouldn't have taken that many.
Advice
It's a minimum wage summer job. It's not bad. It was nice to have a good in the door to a job up here that I can do while going to school.

What I liked
During my internship I filled in for a full-time position on a marketing analyst desk in the alcohol marketing department. I was responsible for submitting and proofing weekly ad content, pulling data for and during meetings from internal systems and IRI. I was also responsible for entering item price and updating item price for our 284 stores in our internal system. During the internship I also completed a project where I reevaluated the price/demographic categories for all of our stores and determined the price category that each store would be in for our resets moving forward.
What I wish was different
I can't think of anything I would change.
Advice
Networking is everything for internships and careers.
