Since that time, Rural King has added over 100 stores. The heart of Rural King is the corporate office, distribution center and flagship store here in Mattoon, Illinois. “The other employees and managers at Rural King were very friendly, supportive, and patient when I was first learning the job and learning how to use a forklift. The pay was also decent for a job out in Indiana where the minimum wage tends to be around $9. Although the job sometimes had its rough moments coworkers were usually more than willing to step in and help. For a temporary summer job and my first experience in retail, the environment was nice, it was also a quick and easy job to learn.”
