Network!! RCL is tai-branded and there are so many areas of growth and opportunity. People are constantly moving into different internal roles and the more people you know the better off you will be and more comfortable you will feel.

What I liked
There is not a bad thing I could say about this internship program. All the individuals before, during and after my time at Royal were and continue to be incredibly resourceful. My team taught me so much and helped me improve many skills in accounting. The internships also had extra perks such as ship tours and a community service day that interns were able to participate in. I enjoyed every second while working for Royal Caribbean.
What I wish was different
The only aspect I wish had been different were the hours I was allowed to work. This is specific to my department because for close every month my team would stay late to finish their work and I was always curious to see what other aspects went into the close process during overtime. My hours, however, were limited to 40 per week so I was unable to stay late.
Advice
One piece of advice that I would share about this internship is to go to every event you possibly can. Networking within the company is very important, and getting to know the other interns in your class is a great way to meet new people and make new connections.

What I liked
I loved the company's constant drive toward improvement. As a cruise company, Royal Caribbean Cruises, LTD. offers the unique experience of cruising to its guests. The overall attitude of the company was to work hard to make sure guests have the greatest vacation ever. Over the course of my internship, I received several company-wide emails that recognized all the hard work we did as employees and commended us on a job well done. Human Resources also provided a very immersive experience for interns and encouraged us to attend company events and connect with everyone from our fellow interns to senior executives. Overall it was a great experience and I would recommend applying to anyone!
What I wish was different
Working in such a large company, I witnessed first hand the pros and cons of corporate. What was hardest for me to experience was the unspoken dictatorship that exists in large companies like these. There were some instances in which a senior employee would use his or her position to make decisions that weren't always right. Another con of large company culture is that there isn't always the greatest communication. Sometimes numbers would be inaccurate and people in other departments weren't always so willing to share their correct numbers because they were told that information is classified.
Advice
Learn about other departments! See yourself as one part of a giant machine. People are almost always happy to take time out of their day to talk with you about their work, and they'll remember how nice it was of you to stop by. Toward the end of my internship, I spoke with three people from various departments about what they do and what their biggest challenges are. One person's work really impressed me and now I'm inviting him to speak at an event on campus!
