I enjoyed working in Graphic design and marketing, and applying skills and knowledge I learned both in high school and during my first two semesters at RIT.
What I wish was different
I wish I was able to put more time in at the office and work longer hours
Advice
If you’re working a summer job on campus, remember it can be nice to visit home occasionally too. Being on campus and then away all summer can be emotionally challenging, and going back to your roots always seems like a well-deserved break when you’ve been away so long.

EYF
June - July 2019 • Rochester, NY
What I liked
The experience as a whole was a great leadership role for me to take on. I learned a lot about myself and my peers.
What I wish was different
I actually be paid for how much I worked. Example we get paid $900.00 for the whole month, dorm, and food but I worked from 6:30 AM- 1AM or 2AM everyday and only had one day off with no breaks. They took our pay slips and had us sign before camp so they could change our hours for us. But i don't feel I was actually paid fairly for the work I did.
Advice
I understand why people only work this camp once and never want to do it again.

Business Analyst
May - August 2018 • Rochester, NY
What I liked
I enjoyed the people i worked with, the structure of the job, and how much real life, hands on experience i recieved. My employer made it so that the job was structured as close to being in the real world, rather than only having me do "internship" type work.
What I wish was different
Communication, communication! We had to work with multiple different departments and people. Often communication would be lost or ignored, causing strain on me being able to actually do my job effectively,
Advice
Make the most out of the time you have in the internship. Make sure to make meaningful connections during your time as well, it will come in handy in the future.
