Marketing Intern (Remote)

June - August 2022 • San Ramon, CA

What I liked

My favorite part of this internship was the people. Everyone was so kind and willing to share their stories and advice with me. I had one-on-one meetings with many people on my teams and in the digital marketing department. My managers really made it clear that they wanted me to get the most out of my experience and they helped so much to make that happen. I always felt supported and comfortable sharing my ideas, I felt like I was part of the team even just for a short period of time.

What I wish was different

The only thing I wish could have been different about this internship was the remote aspect. i would have loved to have been able to meet my coworkers and the other interns in person.

Advice

My advice would be to be curious and ask questions. I found that people are so willing to help and share their stories and they can be a great source of information but you have to ask!

Cloud Engineering Intern

June - August 2022 • San Ramon, CA

What I liked

Management was extremely helpful, a lot more compared to other internships I've been in. There also were a lot of community events that were really fun to go to, like the escape room.

What I wish was different

Luckily, I got to go to the office once a week, but it would've been nicer if we could go in person more often. Other than that, no qualms!

Advice

Ask questions early and take the opportunity to talk to employees in other branches you may be interested in. I was able to talk to a lot of departments surrounding Computer Science, and it was interesting to talk to a variety of employees and hear about their experiences within their field.

Information Technology Intern

June - August 2018 • San Ramon, CA

What I liked

I was surrounded by people willing and able to help. I got to work on small projects within my abilities that I believed would help them in their main activities. I got a small preview for what it's like as a software developer (interviewing, feedback) and I got some insight on what the workplace is like for a full-time employee.

What I wish was different

Due to the available cubicles, I was positioned a bit far from the main team. I wasn't very outgoing or outreaching in the first place, so I had trouble interacting with the rest of the team.

Advice

You're going to be in a lot of meetings, so brush up on your presenting skills.

Legal Intern

June - August 2019 • Menlo Park, CA

What I liked

I loved how responsive and attentive the intern program staff were to my needs and questions. Everyone was incredibly flexible and understanding, allowing me to maximize my time in the office. Additionally, I was given meaningful projects and work that gave me an abundance of new skills and experience. The team I worked on supported me throughout my internship and gave me invaluable professional and career advice I will carry with me beyond the company.

What I wish was different

I wish I was able to work longer than the summer! Honestly, I wouldn't change anything about my experience. I thoroughly enjoyed working in a corporate environment and with the legal team.

Advice

There are countless opportunities at this internship to talk to recruiters and other professionals. Take the time to network with your peers, advisors, and make full use of the workshops the company hosts to further your professional development.

Financial Data Analyst intern

June 2019 • San Ramon, CA

What I liked

I love the company culture - everything they cared about was the employee's happiness. As an intern, I have had a chance to explore many different options for my future career path, and my supervisors and advisors were generous in giving me advice.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have more time doing actual work rather than just waiting for approval on access to the databases. I understand that this is necessary for them to maintain information security, but their approval system was rather slow.

Advice

Don't be afraid to talk to people; everyone tries to help you grow.

Temp

May 2019 • Cedar Rapids, IA

What I liked

I enjoyed the pay, and I really enjoyed the flexibility in hours.

What I wish was different

I wish that I could've had more of a choice in where I worked. The agency would call and offer a specific job, and if I didn't except, I would be out of work for weeks at a time. I also wish that the communication would've been better between employer and employee. The supervisors were always busy, and they never had time to hear about your concerns. They would even offer a job, and fail to inform you if the position was still available when you were set to work.

Advice

My advice would be to just accept any job they offer you immediately, because if there is any hesitance, the position will be filled. It is unclear when they will get back to you, so if you are desperate for money, just take what they offer.
