I cannot say enough good things about REF. The farm is beautiful, and the people are just as wonderful. It is an energetic and exciting work environment that emphasizes the importance of kindness to everyone. I came as a camper and now work on off-season camps, and I can honestly say that this camp has made my life so wonderful and I have made lifelong friends with campers and counselors alike.

Advice
Enjoying nature, and being active is a must, as well as being a "people person". It is a super rewarding job, but, like all camp jobs, can be intense at times, so being comfortable communicating and being a team player is really important to make this job as wonderful as it can be. The whole staff from director down is super supportive and wants to help and pitch in, so being comfortable knowing when you are burnt out, or when you can step up will make sure that everyone is happy and energized.

What I liked
Fantastic work environment set on one of America’s most beautiful backdrops that allows for individual growth and also reinforces the skills needed for working in a small team. Provides daily riding and interaction with a lovely herd of horses. Great food, all served family style and prepared on site. There is also lots of opportunity for sharing more specialized interests with kids and expanding teaching skills. The farm is an environment filled with eager-to-learn kids perfect for both lifelong equestrians as well as those looking to expand experience. I spent five summers working at Road’s End and it’s a relationship I will keep for life. I met most of my best friends working at Road’s End, and can’t think of a better way to spend the summer!

Advice
This is a job that counts on your ability to work well with lots of people from different backgrounds, as well as practice patience with both animals and children. This is a very rewarding job, but it’s also hard work.

What I liked
Road's End Farm is such an awesome community! I worked here for a summer and continued during weekends. The staff worked together really well, the campers are the best, and the horses are so happy too.
