What I liked
I started working with RMDS as a campus ambassador and applied after a friend recommended me for the position. From the campus ambassadorship, I concurrently started working with the data science team as a junior data scientist and learned so much about how a startup operates, how automated data pipelines and workflows operate, and how to manage and work with an equally talented team of data scientists and analysts! The project that I mainly focused on was the LA County COVID-19 Risk Score Project. This project showed me exactly how data is manipulated, analyzed, and directed within a pipeline towards creating a viable product (in this case, an interactive risk level map) which benefits the public. My experience at RMDS has definitely shined light on my career trajectory, and I'm very thankful for both my managers/mentors for guiding me through all my projects and giving me career advice for the future. For anyone looking to study data science, take advantage of platforms such as RMDS which give you the opportunity to attend webinars, take courses and network with other data scientists.
