Riverview, LLP

Feedyard Intern

May - August 2020 • Doland, SD

What I liked

I have nothing bad to say about my experience! All the people I worked alongside were terrific and filled with passion with what they were doing. They really do have a family type couture and will take you under their wing. Everyone will do whatever they can to answer any questions and will show you what's expected. Everyone at this company really is the most awesome people! If you get the chance to work here go for it! You will not regret it! It was the best summer of my whole life.

Advice

Brush up on your Spanish if you will be working on-site at feedlots or dairies. It isn't completely necessary but will definitely make it easier!

Feedlot Intern

May - August 2019 • Clark, SD

What I liked

I liked the ability to experience how a large scale operation was managed and worked. Along with becoming diversified in another culture. It was also exciting to be able to understand how different types of cattle are managed. The best thing about the internship, was working with such a wonderful company and the people in the company.

Dairy Production intern

May - August 2018 • Veblen, SD

What I liked

Riverview has an awesome company culture. Because of that, I felt like I was apart of a greater company that honestly cared for me. Every intern had a weekly check-in with the intern coordinator which helped to integrate us while making sure that the course of the internship was going as planned. It was an awesome experience!

What I wish was different

I wish I had a project to work on other than just going to work every day. I think that will be changed for future internships, however.

Advice

Riverview is so open about everything they do in their company. If there’s something you want to see or be a part of, all you need to do is ask! The other side of that is that nothing is handed to you in this company if you don’t ask for it. Ask, and your experience will be 10 times better!

Dairy Prodcution Intern

May - August 2018 • Morris, MN

What I liked

I liked all the hands on experience and ability to meet know people. I also enjoyed that I got to see so many aspects of their company and work in each of those different areas on the dairy farm.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have switched around some of the rotations that I did on the farm, so that it could have been a little more beneficial to my learning process.

Advice

Be open to their style of farming, everyone has a different way of doing things. Just because it is not the way that you are used to, does not make it any better or worse. Always ask questions because the people that have been hired know there stuff and love to teach you!
