I liked how much experience I got since I was able to run the clinic basically on my own.

I wish I had more guidance at the beginning.

Advice

Take it seriously and don't be too involved with school or other jobs so that you can give the clinic the attention it needs.

What I liked

I loved being able to volunteer my time towards giving back to a community that has given so much to me. I loved working with a team of enthused clinicians to serve those with no or limited insurance.

What I wish was different

Due to the Rexburg Free Clinic being a nonprofit, lots of companies who I reached out to for possible donations available were not incredibly eager to help out. I wish people saw our vision and hope to give back where possible and contributed donations. Don't get me wrong, many companies did help us out and I will be forever thankful for them, but there were a few who wanted something in return and we simply to did not have the means to provide.

Advice

Find joy in volunteering your time wherever possible in your schedule whether that be a couple of hours a week or even one hour a month. There is a certain sense of fulfillment that comes when you take time to serve!
