Marketing Intern

May - August 2021 • Leesburg, VA

What I liked

Everyone at REHAU is excited to have interns for the summer, and put them to real use. I felt like a valued member of my division and that the work I did was appreciated. I learned so much about real world marketing that I feel I could not have learned from sitting in a classroom, and the mentors go above and beyond to help your grow and develop professionally.

What I wish was different

Unfortunately due to COVID I worked mostly remote. I would have enjoyed the experience of getting to meet even more people than I did had I been in the office more frequently.

Advice

Make the most out of the job you're doing. If you feel like you can take on more work, ask for more work. Sit in on meetings that your mentor attends to learn more about your field. You get out of the learning experience what you put into it, and never know what connections you will make in three months.

Engineering Intern

May - August 2021 • Leesburg, VA

What I liked

I really liked the work environment of REHAU. Although I was mostly remote, coming in to the office was always a good experience because there was a balance of working diligently and having fun conversations with other interns/employees.

What I wish was different

I wish I were given the opportunity to help out in a big project. Instead, I was mostly given small behind the scenes tasks. While this may not be the case for every intern, it personally would've been nice to see my work come to fruition as part of a real project.

Advice

Make sure to reach out to the people around you and try to make friends. The experience will be much better once you realize you are surrounded by great people.

Digital Marketing and Film Intern

May - August 2021 • Leesburg, VA

What I liked

I loved the work culture that Rehau created. Everyone was very friendly and encouraging making me want to work hard and learn as much as possible. I had a lot of independence and control over my projects that were actually meaningful and helped the company.

What I wish was different

COVID has made work difficult for everybody but Rehau did a good job a managing it. Their hybrid work environment was very effective. I wish I was able to work with my fellow interns more but I was happy that I was given so much trust and freedom to do my own work.

Advice

Apply yourself and work hard! No one will hold your hand through anything but this can be very rewarding if you are up to the task.

Human Resources Intern

February - July 2021 • Leesburg, VA

What I liked

I enjoyed everything that REHAU had to offer. First, they are one of the most diverse and welcoming environments that I have ever been in. They are always looking for new things to teach their interns. If there is something that you feel may be beneficial for your learning experience, they are more than willing to make that happen for you.

What I wish was different

The only thing that I would change about my experience is that throughout the school semester, I had to be completely virtual. I was able to go into the office for a tour, but unfortunately everything else had to be online.

Advice

One piece of advice that I would give is always stay open minded. If you take advantage of the opportunities they present to you, there is no doubt that you will excel in the position. I would also say take advantage of being in person, make connections, and enjoy everything that you do because it flies by!

Human Resources Intern

January 2021 • Leesburg, VA

What I liked

What I enjoyed about my time and position at REHAU was the diverse culture and the opportunity to work with colleagues around the world. My position was project based and there were plenty of opportunities to get involved with other aspects of HR. While I had to work remotely, weekly meetings kept me close to the HR team and everyone is genuinely working with you to succeed and be the best employee you can be!

What I wish was different

Personally, it would have been interesting to experience the internship in-person, but with the instant messaging system used at the company, everyone was a call/chat away.

Advice

I recommend candidates come prepared with a general knowledge about the field they are going to work for. Everyone is available to help you, but it is important to be as independent as possible. Always be kind and open-minded and you will go far!
