This is my current job title and I work in this position at Birney Elementary in Redondo Beach California. I am contracted for 10 months throughout the year, however, summer school employment requires us to apply and interview if we wish to work over summer break. I genuinely love my job and assisting the students, the teachers, and other supporting staff. I appreciate learning new things about students and finding new ways to assist those in need.
What I wish was different
One thing I wish that would have been different is not knowing enough about the student prior to summer school starting. I would hope that there would be more information on the student that I am assigned to so that I may assist them properly.
Advice
Go into the position with an open mind as well as an open heart because no student is the same and each one requires a different form of support within the class.
