What I liked

I absolutely love my job! I have gained real-life experience that you can't always get in a classroom. It has opened my eyes dramatically and this past summer I started to excel even more. I am learning the right way to network and have advanced in pay and position.

What I wish was different

I wish I started with a business major instead of feeling pressured to pick a major at the start. I chose Kinesiology and when I found out what I was truly meant for I had to go on a fast track to get it.

Advice

I would advise applying for jobs at the end of high school and the start of college to see what you really love to do in this world. Real-life experience is what led me to find my passion for marketing.

What I liked

I love my job. We are supposed to hashtag any photographs we post on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc with #ilovemyjob , #beststudentjob , etc. but it is not hard or a lie to do so! We get to help out in other markets such as Houston, which I was able to do during Winter break of 2018 for December 2018 until January 2019 and Houston Pride and Summer Solstice for about a week in June 2019. Plus I have had the opportunity to work with the Dallas Wings Team plus many other market teams (Houston, Oklahoma, Florida, North Carolina) that gathered in Plano for an event called Red Bull Soapbox Race which was this past September for about 4 day preparation plus event time.

What I wish was different

The only thing I wish that could have been different was that I was able to be hired earlier/know that working for Red Bull was a thing. Working for Red Bull is very selective and the hiring process is not short (it took me about 2 months to find out if I got the job or not) but very worth it. A girl in my sorority worked for them before me and she really encouraged me to apply because she thought I would be successful plus she recommended me to her boss as well.

Advice

If you want to apply, do it! This is the best job I have ever had and Red Bull as a company is so amazing and so cool. They are not just an energy drink. They are a company that donates to causes such as Wings for Life which is in hope to find a solution/cure to those who suffer with any type of spinal cord injury (this is very important to me because my mom has suffered from a spinal cord injury, and though she has always been able to walk she had lived in pain for a long time and not everyone is as lucky as she was) and they also create and execute events around action sports, gaming, leisure, education, staying fit, studying and more. I have made so many friends through out my time at Red Bull. This is an amazing company to work for and though I want to go into a career that really uses my degree in Finance for the first few years, this is a company I hope to come back to in the future.

On Premise Marketing Intern

May - August 2019 • Santa Monica, CA

What I liked

The office was very open, and most people don't have assigned desks. There was a lot of creative freedom and I was trusted with a lot of responsibility.

What I wish was different

Sometimes I wished I had more guidance, but overall it was a great experience.

Advice

Be yourself! I got this position because I was able to show my personality in my final interview and Red Bull saw that I could contribute to the environment of the office beyond my academics.

Marketing Intern

February 2018 • La Mirada, CA

What I liked

I gained field marketing experience and was able to strengthen my public relations skills. I enjoyed the inner workings of their company and that I was working in a team setting.

What I wish was different

I wish that there had been room to promote sooner than waiting for post-grad.

Advice

It's important to have your Linkedin profile updated. I had been in the job hunting process, but I was actually recruited by the manager I work for now. It was because of my polished Linkedin that she had recognized that I fit all of the requirements she was seeking to fulfill with the position I have now.

Logistics team member

January 2018 • Boise, ID

What I liked

I love everything I am able to do as a Logsitics Team Member for RBNA. I have the opportunity to travel for my work, network with people, and to watch events that I relate to!

What I wish was different

The only downside is not having a company card for Logistical exspsenses. Rather, it comes out of my pocket for an event and I have to fill out reimbursement paperwork.

Advice

Follow your dreams. It’s been a dream of mine growing up to work for Red Bull North America (directly, not in a distributing outfit). I grew up racing in Red Bull events all over Southern California and I always saw how Red Bull was so professional and precise. I knew right away that I wanted to be apart of that team! I followed my dreams...now I’m here!
