Quintess Collection

Marketing and Operations Intern

June - December 2019 • Broomfield, CO

What I liked

It really gave me real-world experience. I liked that Quintess didn't baby me and rather treated me as they would any other employee, yet I still always felt comfortable to reach out and ask questions or for help when needed. This was my first 'office' job and it was fun to need to dress well, show up and work a true eight-hour workday. As simple and obvious as this may sound it really does give you a greater perspective on how most of the world works and also grows your appreciation for the freedom that college does allow. It is also really empowering to be working on projects that will actually have an impact. Quintess trusted me to create content that will is published to high clientele all over the world, thus there was a lot of pressure to make sure my work presented myself and Quintess well.

What I wish was different

It was fun to need to dress well, and really dive into the 9-5 daily work grind. Having to show up and really does give you a greater perspective on how most of the world works and also grows your appreciation for the freedom that college does allow. However, with that said, many companies today are making a huge effort to create a comfortable work environment for its employees, and it would have been nice to have more work events that encouraged community building and changing up mundane 9-5 work schedule every once in a while.

Advice

To set expectations for yourself and expectations that the company can expect from you and stick to them. As time goes on and as you grow and develop these expectations may grow but it is important to be realistic and not too demanding or harsh on yourself in the beginning because you are not supposed to be a pro right away, thats what the internship is for, learning and growing!
