I felt like this was the safest and most inclusive environment I've ever worked in, the entire summer I was excited to start my shift. I had so much freedom to create curriculum material and to teach to multivarious age groups. Honestly though, one of my most favorite parts was handling the butterflies and tadpoles throughout the summer and watching them metamorphose.
What I wish was different
I remember earlier in the summer when the Redwing Blackbirds were in their mating season and would never fail to swoop down and mess with your hair. Also, literally two feet from the fence is an entire railroad so it gets very loud and sometimes makes the children cry.
Advice
Wear a hat when you pass near the headwaters, that's where the Redwing Blackbirds usually roost and they're scared of hats.
