PT Solutions Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy Aide

What I liked

I plan on becoming a Physical Therapist in the future, so I love how the job provides clinical experience that mirrors my future goals. I also think that the working environment is fun, uplifting, and fulfilling. I love what I do, and my coworkers are the best. My clinic director is an amazing Physical Therapist, so I consider myself lucky to have a boss that I can also look to as a mentor. I would absolutely like to work with PT Solutions as a Physical Therapist in the future.

What I wish was different

The only aspect I would change is the hourly wage for Physical Therapy Aides. I would argue that $11 per hour is not adequate for the amount of assistance you provide the Physical Therapists, PSCs, and the overall clinic. However, I understand that they pay their aides a higher wage than Benchmark Physical Therapy (a main competitor), and I cannot speak on wage raises because I have been working here for less than a year. I will say, however, PT Solutions will not hesitate to provide adequate compensation for both mileage and time spent driving when you are needed at a nearby clinic.

Advice

Go into every day with the mindset that there is always something you can help with. There are both daily and monthly tasks required to maintain clinic compliance, so you can complete those before, after, or in between assisting with patient care. You can also assist with general clinic cleanliness, like sweeping, disinfecting door handles, taking out the trash, etc. While not all of these are expected of you, I believe it is important to do all that you can to maintain a positive, clean, and safe environment for both patients and employees. This is the basis of what we do as an aide (aside from assisting with patient exercise instruction).

Physical Therapist Aide

What I liked

What was most satisfying to me was the variability of people and the interrelationships shared. This also correlates with the progression seen through the time spent there.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have had more hands on experience. I wish I would have been able to spend more time there and really get to see the good, bad, and ugly, parts of the job.

Advice

I’d say that the experience I had goes much further than what one would think. I got a glimps of what my future could possible look like; I could put my thoughts into action and make it a reality.
