Prudential

Sales Intern

June - August 2019 • Plymouth, MN

What I liked

I loved working with the team I was on. Everyone was so caring and took the time to get to know me outside of work.

What I wish was different

Nothing! I wish it was longer but I had to come back to college, so that wouldn’t work!

Advice

Go out of your way to meet people it’ll pay off, and you get out of it what you put into it!

Annuities Sales Intern

June - August 2018 • Shelton, CT

What I liked

I really liked Prudential. Well established intern program. With over 300 interns, there were great intern events and collaborative projects. Great company to work for, highly recommend.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more work to do. Often asked for work and looked for stuff to do, but the nature of a sales desk is more shadowing based as opposed to project based.

Advice

I would suggest staying hungry and learning as much as possible. Have to be aggressive and work hard for the return offer.

Recruiting and Marketing Intern

May - August 2018 • Irvine, CA

What I liked

Loved working for a large Fortune 500 Company. I was able to learn the ins and outs of recruiting and how to market to a large customer base.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have had access to more company resources as I was granted limited access because I was only an intern. But I was given access with accordance to the company policies so I can't complain too much.

Advice

Make sure to network where ever you are working. I made great connections with other employees and now have a broader working network for when I graduate.

Unix Engineering & Database Support Intern

June - August 2018 • Roseland, NJ

What I liked

I got to meet people working in different fields aside from technology. The culture is very nice. Interns come from all sorts of age groups (even high schoolers). The work I did was substantial and different from what I'm used to, but I was able to learn quickly and get acquainted with my working schedule. Hours were flexible, in that you had to work 8 hours/day, but you can start and stop anytime. Full-time and returning offers are easy to come by as long as you put effort into your work and impress your manager.

What I wish was different

I would have liked working in Newark rather than in Roseland, as the commute would have been shorter. Also, the Newark offices look nicer, provide more activities, and provide better lunch options. I also felt overwhelmed the first day, as I was never told how to use the computer or phone on my desk.

Advice

Do the work and make connections to make this a worthwhile experience.

Actuarial Intern

June - August 2018 • Newark, NJ

What I liked

The program allowed for great experiences to network with other interns, employees in the full-time program, and senior leaders in the company. The work myself and many of the interns were tasked with had a real impact on the company and was meaningful work.

What I wish was different

Some of the events put on by the program seemed excessive and took me away from being able to be available for my manager

Advice

Take advantage of being able to meet as many people as possible over the 10 weeks. Also, don't be afraid to ask questions and make mistakes, you're not expected to be perfect, people want you to try your best and see how much you're willing to learn.
