PROMO is Missouri's statewide organization advocating for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) equality.
Vision: PROMO envisions a Missouri where everyone has full equality in the hearts and minds of citizens, in all areas of the law, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
PROMO is dedicated to the goal of building a diverse staff and board, in regards to background, culture, sexual orientation, and gender identity, and strongly urges applications from transgender or gender nonconforming individuals and persons from underrepresented ethnic and racial groups.
PROMO is made up of two entities, PROMO, a 501(c)(4) organization, and PROMO Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization. PROMO is Missouri’s statewide organization advocating for LGBTQ equality through legislative action, electoral politics, grassroots organizing, and community education. PROMO Fund promotes equality and protects the human and civil rights of LGBTQ people in Missouri.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
PROMO Interns and Practicum Students will work inside an office, in event spaces, as well as outdoors on occasion. There will be exposure to typical Missouri temperatures, distractions typical of a busy office environment, and, on occasion, loud noises. Conference and individual calls are frequent and required. Statewide travel is likely but rare.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by PROMO Interns and Practicum Students to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Continuous walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, cutting, and carrying are expected in this role. Extended hours in front of computer screen and mobile phone screen are typical, as are movements and activities associated with public events.
PROMO is a smoke-free, casual dress, fun workplace. Dress code outside of the office is dependent on the nature of the event. The PROMO office environment is collaborative and flexible, in order to accommodate a strenuous campaign-based schedule. The St. Louis building and office are accessible, secure, and dog-friendly. The Springfield office location is flexible to meet needs.
