Arc Welder

April 2019 • Apple Valley, CA

What I liked

What I like about being a welder is that I’m able to make my own hours and talk to clients that are interested in creating things that help their everyday life.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have marketed my welding skills more than I did so my name would have been more well know. I’m very hard on myself so sometimes even the smallest imperfections cause me to become discouraged.

Advice

One piece of advice I would share about this experience would be to put yourself out in the world and don’t be afraid to show off your work if you feel that it’s good and if you worked hard on it.

Hostess

May 2019 • Philadelphia, PA

What I liked

I liked being able to have my own money and having free time during the week to work on practicing (I'm a jazz performance major at Temple) so it was nice that I could practice during the week and work on myself over the summer.

What I wish was different

I had to work mainly mornings as well as every weekend, which made it hard to have any sort of social life since all of my friends usually worked during the week doing regular jobs!

Advice

Working in restaurants is difficult in general because it's a very intense and fast paced environment, especially in Philly, so it's important to have thick skin because people in restaurants just want to put the blame on someone, so it's important to not let that get to you, and to just try and do what you can to help!

Consulting Analyst Intern

June - July 2019 • Imperial, CA

What I liked

The consulting position was a learning experience that opened new doors for future business and direction for intervention. I specifically enjoyed the idea of being able to make a change or inspiration to make a change in the home as well as the workspace.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have spent some more time with the primary owner rather than his significant other that is his business partner. I did however have the chance to engage with the owners at the personal residence after the internship that made up for the majority of the virtual loss. I wish I had better PV sales associates that were willing to portray a physical model of the future that was bilined with expenses.

Advice

It's hard to convince a business owner that the environment is changing or that the current scenario is not the proper function. Clean air at home is one of the main target areas especially in children environments that is a controversial topic that people take for granted. Do not give up and stick to your facts and knowledge.

What I liked

I enjoyed spending the day with the child I cared for and teaching him through play and movies.

What I wish was different

I wish that I watched him more or watched him on days where I was able to bring him places. We stayed in his neighborhood for the majority of the time and were not able to explore.

Advice

A piece of advice is that each kid is different so pay attention to what they like and do not like.
