It was work from home because of covid but everyone was very easy to work with. They encouraged questions so ask them when you have them.
What I wish was different
I wish I would have got to work in an office and meet some of the people I worked with.
Advice
Ask questions when you have them. Ask why you’re doing something and the processes. Understand what you’re doing, don’t just be a robot.

Extended Accounting Intern

What I liked
Everything! I've learned so much in the past few months and feel much more prepared to graduate and succeed in the real world after this experience.
What I wish was different
I could have been in person for some of my internship.
Advice
Principal is THE best place to intern in Iowa. Their program is a well-oiled machine and makes each intern feel important and successful.

Software Engineering Intern
May - August 2020 • Des Moines, IA
What I liked
The new Intern Cohort program made it really easy to meet other interns from completely different areas of the company, which I thought was great especially with COVID. I hope they continue to do the cohort program even if we go back to being in person.
Networking with other employees was really easy to do, since many of the employees are willing and actually want to talk to interns to help them find their path!
What I wish was different
I was not entirely satisfied with the placement of the project that I was put on. However, through networking on my own, I was able to join a different project that suited my interests better, in addition to the first project that I was on.
Advice
Don't be afraid to use networking to try and find other opportunities within the company!
