Practice Promotions

Digital Account Manager Intern

February 2021 • Lexington, VA

What I liked

THIS HAS BEEN THE BEST INTERNSHIP I HAVE EVER HAD, FULL STOP! The company culture is incredibly inviting and always wants you to succeed. Being a Rockstar intern has pushed me to learn new technologies and practices I never knew about. Having the ability to speak with full-time employees about ongoing projects, their expectations, and see how your work positively impacts Practice Promotion's clients has been one of the most rewarding career experiences I have ever had. Amy and Neil Trickett are absolutely amazing and everyone is the true embodiment of their "Rockstar Core Values".

What I wish was different

I wish I had more previous experience with data analytics through Google Analytics Academy, but the company has had zero issue teaching me in areas I may be behind. The information may appear as a firehose at times, but the staff is very willing to break down how everything works.

Advice

Try to manage your time for projects and ask questions whenever they pop up.

Print Account Manager Intern

October 2020 • Chesterfield County, VA

What I liked

I felt welcomed by the entire company right away and had multiple people in different departments reach out to me to offer their help if needed. The genuine and enthusiastic company culture has really shown to be true! As well as their motto to only hire “ROCKSTARS”. I started my training right away and had consistent guidance and support from my mentor and coworkers. This is my first remote position, but I always felt like I had immediate contact with my direct supervisor, team, and the entire company. The Print Account Manager role requires a lot of attention to detail and organization, but the softwares they use keeps me on track and is easy to navigate! I started in my second to last semester in college and they were very flexible with my needs and schedule. I would highly recommend applying to work for this company!

What I wish was different

I was the first Print Account Manager intern so it was a learning experience for us all and required flexibility in the training structure. Overall, it was a smooth and very educating process.

Advice

Be yourself! Everyone is willing to help so don’t be afraid to ask as many questions as you need and even though it is a remote position, get to know your coworkers!

Website Designer/Front-End Developer Internship

June 2020 • Richmond, VA

What I liked

I was quickly working on real projects and getting practical experience and feedback from my supervisors. I felt like an important part of the team, and made real contributions. Even with remote work, I was always in contact with both my immediate team and the company as a whole. Successes were shared and celebrated. As I grew into my role and we found parts I was particularly skilled in, I was even able to specialize my role to my strengths! With it being a quickly growing company, they're flexible and are super responsive to feedback and discussion. I always felt heard and appreciated, and was by far the most positive workplace I've ever been in.

What I wish was different

The internship program is a bit new, so for some parts the training/distribution of tasks are still being nailed out. I had to ask a lot of questions, but I didn't feel like I was being a bother, and when asked my supervisors would always be willing to meet and go over things.

Advice

Ask questions early on, and don't be afraid to ask for concrete instructions/advice! The web dev role covers a lot, so stay organized.
