Instructor

May 2015 • Fairfax, VA

What I liked

Extremely flexible hours, great pay, great coworkers and management. I get to pursue my passion of teaching using LEGO building materials!

What I wish was different

Sometimes I had to drive to different schools and traffic would be bad.

Advice

To make sure you're well rested the night before because with the morning and afternoon rush hour it gets difficult to drive to and from school.

Teaching Assistant (Preschool, Elementary, Middle, and Secondary School)

June - August 2018 • Evanston, IL

What I liked

I liked that I assisted with two classes per day and I got to work with students of different ages. I also like that I worked a school schedule and had weekends off and that we had paid drive time.

What I wish was different

We taught at a different location every week and sometimes the drives were long.

Advice

Patience is key. Students respond better if you speak to them like you would speak to other adults.

Engineering Instructor

November 2017 • Fort Collins, CO

What I liked

I got to spend the entire summer teaching elementary school kids a ton of different basic engineering concepts with LEGOs!!!! I got to build and teach awesome projects completely made of LEGO, such as, motorized LEGO cars and machines that ran along a zip lines, moving staircases, ferris wheels, and many many more!

What I wish was different

Nothing really. This is a super fun job! Being around kids for 9 hours a day gets very tiring.

Advice

I think this is an awesome part time job for students. The hours are amazing, and its a very independent job. There isn't a lot of contact with other employees, so it important to be very organized and selfsufficient.
