The atmosphere at the Nature Center is supportive and kind. Everyone is looking out for each other and the scheduling is very flexible for full time students.
What I wish was different
There is quite a lot of animal handling / care at this job. Although you are able to learn on the go from men and women who have been doing it for years, handling of raptors such as owls, hawks, and turkey vultures is a skill I wish I had professional training for.
Advice
Be ready to perform your duties in all kinds of weather. Bring extra jackets and clothing depending on the weather.
