Human Resources Intern

May - August 2019 • Denver, CO

What I liked

I really liked having the opportunity to learn about and explore so many different sub-sections of HR that I never knew about. I was given fun projects that stimulated me and was surrounded by great people in a great atmosphere.

What I wish was different

I wish that there was not such a push to be super social, but this company is very close-knit and at this company specifically and in the field I was in, that was something that was really important for them.

Advice

Come to work with a great attitude and don't be afraid to ask questions or reach out to HR/the Summer Intern Coordinator for questions or clarification regarding your onboarding process. If you are looking to be a good fit for the company and increase your chances of a return offer, be social and try to go out with other interns, people on your team, and people on other teams as well. They like to hear that you are doing "fun" things on the weekend/with your summer, so try to explore the city and come back with things/adventures to share.

Sales Operations Intern

June - August 2017 • Denver, CO

What I liked

The people were AMAZING. I worked with 3 other interns and my supervisor would have one on one meetings with each of us every week. All of our supervisors encouraged us to ask questions and they didn't expect us to know everything beforehand. It was a very organized internship experience because all the interns were given project statements for each of the projects we had to work on and then we had to create project plans with specific deadlines for aspects of each project. We also had to do an initial and final presentation to talk about what we hoped to accomplish and finally what we accomplished. I worked with different managers on each project and so I was able to learn how to interact with various types of managerial styles instead of just one. It was a good mix of working alone and with people. I learned so much from the experience and I really recommend it to future students!!

What I wish was different

Sometimes a manager would be too busy to meet with me but honestly it was the end of the quarter and they had a lot to do. It taught me how to be more persistent if I really needed something or figure stuff out on my own if I had to.

Advice

Get to know the people there! They are SO great and they want you to ask as many questions as you need to. They don't expect you to come in with a vast knowledge of Sales Operations and they understand that you're just a college student who is trying to figure stuff out.
