I wish there were more resources for new employees to learn about the basic necessities of each type of pet.

Learning about different species and how to properly care for them. Interacting with customers and informing them of the best way to care for the animal they were interested in.
What I wish was different
Management and scheduling hours should have been better.
Advice
Make sure you are okay with cleaning up mess and the occasional gross stuff. Be willing to learn, both in your department and about other departments.

What I liked
I love the interaction I have with pets. The best part is being able to help pet parents improve the lives of their pets.
What I wish was different
I wish there were more hours available during closing times to finish tasks so that when we are opened, we could dedicate the majority of our time to the pets and their pet parents.
Advice
If you love animals, and working with people, this would be the job for you. It is a different experience everyday and it is very fast paced. It is also a job that requires you to get dirty sometimes, so keep that in mind.
