What I liked

My boss is one of the best people I have ever met! I got to take a paid for online class at UC Davis to learn all about pet care and nutrition. We also always had cute kittens in the store plus people would bring their dogs in all the time!

What I wish was different

Maybe for it to be a little busier but that’s it.

Be prepared to work alone, and know that your responsibilities at work will not always line up with your job title.

What I liked

I love working with people and having the opportunity to help others. Making relationships with the customers, and their pets, is the best part of the job.

What I wish was different

We only have four employees total, including the manager. It was, and still is hard to take off when I need it. It is extremely hard for me to balance work and school since I do not have the luxury of taking off when necessary.

Advice

It is not easy work working at Pet Valu but I find it rewarding. You are constantly doing something of helping a customer. Do not take this job to be "easy" and expect to be putting effort into familiarizing yourself with the needs of various pets and how to accurately attend to a customer's questions.
