What I liked

I personally enjoy taking care of pets as a hobby, especially fish in aquariums. Working as a cashier and store associate at Pet Supplies Plus allowed me to have fun and find new discoveries in this wonderful pet world. Furthermore, I love the way our customers, employees, and animals create such a wonderful environment. The employees treat our customers fairly with dignity and will always accommodate their needs.

What I wish was different

I wish I could've been scheduled on the floor near the aquariums more often. The majority of my time was spent operating the cashier in the front. Since I love caring for fish, I was more comfortable to be the one where our customers ask us questions about the fish and any accessories they need.

Advice

I think working at a pet store as a cashier is similar to other grocery stores and cashier roles. As a store associate on the floor, you may come across some questions and problems the customer might have. Therefore, understanding the cycle of taking care of fish and the different species is greatly crucial to delivering proper information to a customer.

I was on the cash register pretty much every shift. Was told that this job would have me rotating and doing a variety of things but I always ended up cashing.
