Summer Intern
May - August 2020 • Austin, TX
What I liked
The PHiT team are passionate about what they do and willing to make time to meet with you to offer any advice or guidance they can give. They're do incredibly important work documenting Texas' labor history, countercultural movements, and anti-racist organizing. In fact, many of the members were involved in those movements. While I was interning, it felt like I was part of a family even though we never could meet in person.
What I wish was different
Other interns did really fascinating stuff that I wasn't involved in. I wish I had reached out to fellow interns to learn more about what they were working on and what drew them to the project.
Advice
Market yourself. Know what you want to do and what you have to offer. They're happy to have your help. Just sniff out where you're needed and you'll have a rewarding experience.
