I enjoyed the location and the staff very much. Coming to work each day this summer was fun and rewarding. I feel like I really got to know the park (Colonel Denning State Park) and my supervisor and coworkers were always willing to talk to me about my future career.
What I wish was different
I wish that I could have participated in more of the environmental education programs, but there were special circumstances this summer that made that unable to happen.
Advice
If you want an internship with DCNR, in my experience, being professional and timely in your correspondence with the hiring staff + supervisor goes a long way.

Engineering Scientific and Technical Intern
May - August 2019 • Philipsburg, PA
What I liked
I loved how supportive my staff at the park was, they really prepared me for a career in state parks.
What I wish was different
I wish I could have been there longer-- I was a part of several projects that I wasn't able to see through to the end because I had to return to school.
Advice
Say yes! Get as much experience as you can, and being willing to try anything goes a long way with people.
Always have a good attitude.

Engineering Scientific Technical Intern
May - August 2019 • Clarion, PA
What I liked
I liked the people I worked with, and the hands on experience I gained over the summer. The schedule I worked was always consistent, and I never felt over worked. The location of the office was also extremely convenient for being a student at Clarion.
What I wish was different
The one thing I wish was different was during days when I was stuck in the office, I never had any office work to occupy the time. The intern position duties relied heavily on what work needed to be completed in the field.
Advice
My one piece of advice would be to get your resume looked at by someone at the Career Development Center before applying because their process is entirely online.
