It was super hands-on, I never spent time behind a computer and was consistently learning new things.
What I wish was different
I did not love the location, Philadelphia is not a very peaceful environment but I'm not just not a city person.

What I liked
My internship at the Working Dog Center was one of the best experiences of my life. I learned about so many different fields. I gained practical skills in obedience and odor work training. I also was able to shadow veterinarians, trainers, researchers, and law enforcement.
What I wish was different
I only wish that I could stay longer!
Advice
This experience is truly an internship for everyone. If you are interested in veterinary school, then you can learn from veterinarians and help with medical tasks. If you are interested in law enforcement, then you can work alongside police officers and their canine partners. If you are interested in research, then you can work with the research team on some very meaningful projects. The WDC can give you experiences in so many fields!

The internship was super hands on and the center itself is so wonderful. It was great to be able to impact the dogs in a huge way and know that there are better because of me and will consequently save more lives.
What I wish was different
The internship was longer!!!
Advice
Take advantage of everything you can- there are many opportunities to grow and experience new things.
