About Paulson Institute

The Paulson Institute is an independent, non-partisan, non-government organization with offices at the University of Chicago in the U.S. and in Beijing, China. The Paulson Institute supports a new approach to economic development around the principle that truly sustainable economic growth is only possible if it includes a healthy environment and climate. We work to support a transition to a more sustainable economic model in both the China and the United States.
The Institute was founded in 2011 by Henry M. Paulson, Jr., the 74th Secretary of the Treasury and former chief executive of Goldman Sachs to promote economic growth and environmental preservation in both countries through programs, advocacy and research. With offices in the United States and China, and partners around the globe, we take a “think and do” approach.
The Paulson Institute recently established the Climate and Sustainable Urbanization (CSU) Program to help China address its complex urbanization, air pollution and climate change challenges. Building on achievements of the Chinese government, NGOs and others in this area over the past several years, the Program focuses on solutions for air pollution in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei (JJJ) region. The research team has worked with partners and collaborators to produce six major research reports over the course of 2015, which can be accessed here:

Communications Intern

July 2018 - August 2018 Beijing, China
“The atmosphere was great at the office, I grew professionally not only from my daily tasks but also the exposure and insights from my colleagues. My colleagues at the Beijing office came from various industries covering banking, consulting, big oil and auto corps, and headhunting firms...I was able to see the bigger picture with the help and support from their expertise and kindness.”
