What I liked

It's a small company, so I get to work with people across a lot of different departments. My role is very flexible; it swings between day-to-day journal entries to programming automation for month-end. I work very closely with my supervisor on building tools for the whole accounting department. The whole company is very supportive of education and personal development.

What I wish was different

My commute - I live in Paulding and it's a hike, but housing is expensive in Midtown.

Advice

Specialize in what you enjoy while you're still in school, and then use that to differentiate yourself when looking for a job. If it's math, take some stats and data courses. If it's soft skills, take public speaking and communication. Show you're serious. Also, familiarize yourself with advanced Excel. That can make or break the hiring process.
