Some of the people there are very lazy and they don’t really care about the job at all

Make sure you get to know the manager. They are generally really cool people and if you get on their good side you will have an awesome working experience and advance faster

I liked the atmosphere and working in customer service, working with people and being able to service them is the work I like to do! This job teaches you time management skills, memorization, cashier skills, food handling skills, and customer service skills, all skills that are needed to be successful in a future career.

Assistant Store Manager

What I liked

I enjoyed learning how to communicate with customers effectively, as well as managing a store with understanding needs for food preparation, time management, and thinking into tasks for the next day. I am also very hands-on with my college major so being able to physically work with objects and food was fulfilling.

What I wish was different

We had a lot of technical issues with our online ordering system, which is a corporate issue that we sadly couldn't fix locally, and a lot of customers would come in with issues ordering or not having their order print after saying it was fulfilled online. Additionally, there were some other issues with the order screens adding too much money for certain combinations or not having items on the menu that was in our system, and vice versa.

Advice

It's a good job to have during high school or a young adult age when you want to develop problem-solving and customer service skills. In food especially, customers like to modify menu items to fit their needs, and especially if it's a busy sale day being able to understand orders and get them out fast is a good working skill to develop.

I like the responsibility of leading coworkers, interacting with the guests and handling scheduling, inventory, register, etc

What I wish was different

I wish my manager had been more strict with employees, so we could have a more efficient work place with less drama and less time wasted.

Advice

Ask lots of questions, and always work with a sense of urgency. It’s easier to instruct that to repair if new workers guess and mess something up. If you are moving with intention and urgency it’s helps the store run better, the customers feel more appreciated and you’re given the benefit of the doubt when mistakes are made.

What I liked

I have had this job for a long time, three years to be exact and I absolutely love my co-workers and the atmosphere. I have a wonderful team and I've learned to take on the authoritative role.

What I wish was different

I wish I could move higher but I cannot since I am a student and there is no higher other than the assistant manager. I do not want to have this job for the rest of my life, this is just a job so I can get bills paid.

Advice

Learn to be patient with customers and your fellow employees. It is not a hard job but if you have no experience in customer service then it will be a little difficult at first.
