This internship gave me an overview of hotel sales and catering. I got to experience the sales process hands-on and was involved in a variety of other activities such as attending daily meetings, accompanying managers on sales calls, and helping with events on the floor.

Advice
Ask as many questions as you can and take every opportunity to involve yourself! Offer to help with special projects or set up meetings with managers whose role you want to learn more about. They will teach you so much!

Rotational Summer Intern
June - August 2019 • Seattle, WA
What I liked
The people! My immediate coworkers were fabulous and I learned so much from their experiences. I loved rotating through various roles as I feel like I have a well-rounded idea for how a hotel is run now.
What I wish was different
I wish I could have spent more time in the roles I liked and less in the ones I didn’t.. but at least I wasn’t doing coffee runs all summer
Advice
Even if the position you are in isn’t your first choice, there is always something you can learn from it that will help get you to your preferred position and title. A positive attitude will lead to positive change.
