What I liked

As a small company in the growth stage, it was an amazing environment to understand just how much goes into making medical products from start to finish. Since there were only around 50 employees, it was also nice to get to know everyone and work together on a regular basis. As a part of the Product Development team, I was working on real problems, with experienced mentors, directly using concepts learned in school. But more than anything, I was astounded by how helpful, friendly, and caring everyone was to each other and to me. It was very evident that everyone loved working there, and now I can attest, too!

What I wish was different

Onboarding was quick, but it took a while to finally understand how everything pieced together. Having no prior experience in the medical industry, I didn't even know what kind of questions to ask about the process at first. As time went on though, it all clicked. If anything could be different, I would want more information about the standard operating procedures and their backgrounds up front.

Advice

Don't waste a second. There is so much valuable experience to be had, and there is ALWAYS something to do. Whether it's running to Home Depot for supplies, 3D-printing design prototypes, tackling Solidworks drawings, or chatting with the CEO, you'll learn something new every day. Make sure to!
