One Power

field engineer intern

September - December 2022 • Findlay, OH

What I liked

The internship is a rotational program so you get to experience the day-to-day responsibilities of various departments. My favorite rotations were Project Planning(PPT) and Analytics. These departments dealt with aspects that I have studied in my master's program and gave me the opportunity to refine my skills, revise and increase my knowledge about wind energy.

What I wish was different

I struggled with my rotation in the construction department because of the cold weather. I wish this rotation had been set a bit sooner in the internship program as I am not used to working in such freezing temperatures. This was an issue nobody had foreseen before, and I was grateful that my colleagues and employers were understanding and supportive.

Advice

This was a very interesting , insightful and driving experience. The internship can get a bit hectic if the student is also actively enrolled in classes, so be prepared to often have to deal with a lot on your plate. Although, the location is pretty remote, building a community with colleagues is easy.

June - July 2020 • Findlay, OH

What I liked

All the work I did was meaningful and I was treated like a full time employee. The atmosphere was also extremely laid back and it was fun to be there.

What I wish was different

There is not much I would change from my experience there.

Advice

If you ever need help on an assignment, it is always a good idea to ask for help instead of not.
