What I liked

The opportunity to spread the Gospel and do mission work in Ecuador. I was able to practice and strengthen my Spanish-speaking skills with local Ecuadorians. I formed and built relationships with those on my team and with many others.

What I wish was different

I wish it had been for a longer period of time.

Video Production Intern

What I liked

My experience in Pittsburgh forced me to take ownership of the video projects I was tasked with. Due to the nature of this position, I had a remote supervisor, which meant that there were a great many problems I ended up learning to solve on my own, rather than just being told in person. This somewhat self-guided approach was ultimately the best thing for me in this stage of my education. Additionally, having free creative reign of projects and getting to use professional audio and video equipment was an awesome experience.

What I wish was different

One Collective was able to craft my internship experience around what I was required by school to do. Because of this, I was sort of a pioneer for them in this type of internship, which resulted in some ups and downs. The position required me to fundraise a lot, even though I was traveling locally. I also wish the experience would have included some initial time at One Collective headquarters to prepare me more for the ministry I was about to walk into somewhat blindly.

Advice

This internship forced me to step out of my comfort zone in so many areas. I learned about some of the joys and the hard truths of ministry and was able to bless the team I worked with with quality video content. While I went to Pittsburgh, anywhere you go with One Collective will be a period of intense growth, enjoyment, hard work, relationship-building, gospel-sharing, and all-around blessings. Everyone I interacted with from One Collective was extremely helpful and friendly, and I am grateful to have worked with them!
