Olivia Management

Intern

January - April 2024 • Nashville, TN

What I liked

The interns are trusted with a lot of varying tasks, and I got to try my hand at a lot of different aspects of the work they do. There was always room to learn, and mistakes were treated as opportunities to improve a process. I liked getting a broad overview of what goes into artist management.

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions, and feel free to take on a task even if it's not something you're super familiar with. The first few weeks can be stressful as you adjust to the different platforms and processes, but take your time and you'll get the hang of it.

Advice

Dive in! You are there to learn, and the team WANTS you to learn. It is rare to find an internship that is as involved as this one, so soak it all in.

What I liked

Being an intern at Olivia Management doesn’t mean that you’re just a student who comes into the office a couple of times a week and goes on grocery runs (though I am the proclaimed snack queen this semester). You’re a valuable part of the team and Erin, Grace, and Sidney make sure that you know just how important you are on a daily basis. The way OM emphasizes, leans on, and appreciates their interns is a beautiful, rare thing and I’m so glad that, in a town of millions of opportunities, I was given this one. Not only have I learned many valuable professional skills while interning here - from merch fulfillment to successful marketing and outreach - I’ve learned how to be a better leader through watching the way Erin leads our small but mighty team. I’ve learned how important it is to step back and be proud of the work that you’ve done, and how much easier it is to do work when you love the people you’re doing it with.

Advice

You're going to learn many new platforms and processes and, the first few days, it's going to be overwhelming. Don't fret, they're aware and know you're learning, and once you've got a couple of weeks under your belt, you're going to be a pro at all of the ones you use daily and it's really going to speed up your processes once you learn them!
