Interns have the opportunity to learn from the people who are developing policy that can improve people’s lives. And seeing the Senator walk around the office is pretty cool as well.
What I wish was different
Interns have to answer phones, which can be challenging when there are difficult callers.
Advice
To get the internship, spend lots of time on your cover letter and writing samples, make sure you have stellar grades, demonstrate a commitment to public service, and if possible, use your professional network to get your foot in the door.
