Congressman Jim Langevin represents Rhode Island's 2nd Congressional District. The Congressman is a senior member of the House Armed Services Committee, on which he chairs the Cyber, Innovative Technologies, and Information Systems Subcommittee and serves on the Subcommittees on Seapower and Projection Forces and Strategic Forces. He is a senior member of the Committee on Homeland Security and serves on its Subcommittees on Intelligence & Counterterrorism and Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection, & Innovation.

Congressman Langevin’s Rhode Island office serves constituents from the Second District who need assistance working with federal agencies. The staff help constituents secure passports, apply for small business loans, locate their federal tax returns, etc. Congressman Langevin’s Washington office handles his committee work on the House Committees on Armed Services and Homeland Security, as well as a vast portfolio of legislative issues.

“The most rewarding aspect of this internship was the freedom afforded to me by my office to attend multiple congressional briefings on policy issues that interested me. I was then able to follow up those briefings up with research on the legislative issue, and then compile my notes and research into memos that were submitted to Legislative Assistants in the office. I was able to dive into several policy areas that interest me, and I felt like the research I did was a meaningful contribution to the office's work in policy areas that I care about. ”
