I worked with children who have special needs and it was an eye opening experience. I want to be a Speech language pathologist and I want to work with children with special needs so it was an awesome experience to be able to experience it first hand.
What I wish was different
I wish that we could stay in the same classroom every year. The children were so energetic, optimistic, and made special connections with the staff.
Advice
One piece of advice I would share would be that a disability does not define a child. Those children were the happiest, most outgoing children I have ever worked with and I can’t wait to start again next summer!
