Northern Tier National High Adventure Base

About Northern Tier National High Adventure Base

Northern Tier is the Boy Scouts of America’s gateway to adventure in the Great Northwoods. In the Summer, scouts from Northern Tier’s three wilderness canoe bases explore millions of acres of pristine lakes, meandering rivers, dense forests and wetlands in Northern Minnesota, Northwest Ontario and Northeast Manitoba. In the winter, Northern Tier is home to the Okpik Cold Weather Camping program, the BSA's premier winter high adventure program.

Northern Tier’s co-ed staff work with high school age youth to change lives through multi-day extended canoe camping trips. Northern Tier is the world’s largest provider of canoe expeditions, giving thousands of youth wilderness adventures that last a lifetime. Northern Tier is located in the beautiful boundary waters along the Minnesota/Canadian border and has a variety of guiding and support positions. No experience is necessary.

“The outdoor work environment was very rewarding. The organization handles all training and certifications very well. Working with young adults allows you to practice effective communication methods and work on project management as you are in charge of designing and overseeing each wilderness camping trip. Academic Scholarships are available to second year employees and up.”
