Nordson EFD

Solder Chemist/Engineering Intern

July - September 2019 • East Providence, RI

What I liked

I loved everything about the process and the internship. I got in contact with a recruiter almost immediately, and learned a lot during the job.

What I wish was different

I just wish the internship started sooner than July so I could have spent more time there.

Advice

Put yourself out there and apply to postings even if you don’t feel totally qualified. The employers may think otherwise!

Electrical Engineering Intern

May 2019 • East Providence, RI

What I liked

Working at Nordson EFD, has been a great experience for me and it still is. Every time I go into work I learn something new and I'm challenged in a new way. The people and support at this company is also great! I'm always encouraged to ask questions and to provide my input on projects.

What I wish was different

While working at Nordson EFD, over the summer, I did not get as much soldering experience that I would have liked to. However after expressing this concern to my boss, she had arranged for me to receive some soldering training and is allowing me to gain more soldering experience in the engineering lab.

Advice

Never be afraid to ask for help. It's better to double check your work and ensure that your design, calculations or assignment work is correct and works properly before moving forward. This will help avoid any minor mistakes that could potentially turn into major issue that could cost the company a lot of time and money. Even if you make a mistake, it is all a learning experience and you'll know the right way to do things for the future. On the other hand, if you are confident in your work and you know that you are right, be sure to stand behind the work that you do, stick up for yourself, and don't allow others to make you second guess yourself!
