What I liked

I love introducing people to new places and skills, and it's amazing to spend 3-4 weeks in the mountains at a time.

What I wish was different

It would have been awesome to have more time on my last course to take students up big climbs.

Advice

As an instructor for NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School), I'm a little biased, but I highly recommend our courses to college students. It's an awesome way to supplement your academic experience and develop leadership skills (plus learning to backpack, kayak, climb, ski, etc.). You can often get college credit and financial aid for a NOLS course as well.
